Instructional Leadership
CAPE 2 states that “Education leaders shape a collaborative culture of teaching and learning informed by professional standards and focused on student and professional growth.” This standard has four sections: “Personal and Professional Learning,” “Promoting Effective Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment,” “Supporting Teachers to Improve Practice,” and “Feedback on Instruction”. Professional development is essential to continuously improving the school, staff, student learning, student safety and well-being. The goal of CAPE 2 is to empower teachers with their teaching style while still providing them with opportunities of growth.
As a future administrator it is vital that as a leader I provide opportunities for my staff to learn from each other, myself, and that I learn from them as well. This is how we become stronger professionals, build trust, and greater community builders. I have been able to align CAPE 2 with some of the things I already do as a mentor teacher. Empowering other teacher, providing them opportunities to grow as an educator is something that has always come naturally to me. Through CAPE 2 I have learned that teachers are always looking to improve, but sometimes they just don’t know how or when to ask for help. That is why when teachers work together, ideas are shared and opportunities for growth are presented. It will be the leaders job to foster that growth and help build strong and confident teachers.
Professional Development Presentation
As the district ELD coach I gave a professional development workshop on English Language Development standards and strategies to staff members. It addressed understanding the standards and what tools could be used to help address success within this student population. The directly relates to CAPE 2 to support and promote effective instruction and a range of instructional methods and supporting practices that address the diverse educational needs of all students.
Opinion Paper
As an administrator, it is their job to follow the educational legal process. In this opinion paper, I discuss whether education is helped or hindered by the legal process. The legal process helps education since one of the major states and National emphasis is excellent educational sector expectations. I have realized more that it is the job of our administrator to ensure we follow the law and provide the very best education for our students.
