Management and Learning Environment
CAPE 3 states that educational leaders should manage the organization to cultivate a safe and productive learning and working environment. This CAPE has four sections: “Operations and Resource Management,” “Managing Organizational Systems and Human Resources,” “School Climate,” and “Managing the School Budget and Personnel”. New administrators know that day-to-day and long- term management strategies are a foundation for staff and student health, safety, academic learning, and well-being.
In CAPE 3 I learned a lot about how the Human Resources department should be ran and the importance of following procedures for hiring. It definitely helped me look at my own experience being on an interview panel and what I need to do when I become a future administrator. It isn’t always easy to be a leader for everyone, but through the symposiums that I had an opportunity to participate in allowed me to see how leadership is a shared responsibility. It showed me the importance of building trust and create diverse teams based on the strengths of staff members. A leader never leads alone.
Symposium # 1 Reflection
This symposium reflection paper discusses the 4 Keys to a World-Class Career by providing strategies and support for becoming a successful administrator. This essay is a direct relation to CAPE 3 which provides insight in understanding the leader’s role in establishing a positive, productive school climate, supportive of staff, students, and families.
Symposium 3 Reflection
In our symposium I had the opportunity to listen to Dr. David Miyashiro, superintendent of Cajon Valley Union School District, and Ed Hidalgo. Both brought forth some very interesting discussions about building unity within schools and districts and the framework for career development. For me it is very important to see from an administrator what one does to provide a happy and safe environment for their staff and students. I hope to be able to accomplish that as well as a future administrator.
